While his primary practice specialty is Emergency Medicine and General Medicine, the evaluation and prevention of injuries resulting from falls has been a preventable injury that he has treated in many Emergency Departments over the past twenty years.  Dr. Dyson belongs to the American College of Emergency Medicines injury and prevention section which has listed fall prevention as one of the objectives of all Emergency Medicine Physicians because of the significant Morbidity and Mortality associated with falls resulting in fractured hips or head injuries. The leading cause of trauma in those over age 65 is falls as well as the seventh leading cause of death in those over age 65. It has been also mandated by Medicare , American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Medical Associations that physicians take an active role in preventing falls considering the long term cost to the Medicare system once this occurs resulting in long term injuring and disability. Not to mention the financial and emotional stress on family members and caretakers of those who have suffered the effects of falls.  At Fall Prevention and Rehabilitation, we have therefore developed a state of the art testing and rehabilitation facility to prevent those at risk of becoming an Emergency Room patient because of a fall which could lead to a broken bone, hip or worse. Please call us today for an appointment so that we can provide you with a fall risk assessment profile that could save your life.
